Huawei said Wednesday the tech giant will ask a US court to throw out US legislation that bars federal agencies from buying its products. The company was due to file the motion for summary judgment on Tuesday (Wednesday in China), said Song Liuping, the firm’s legal officer, in a statement carried by Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.

Accordingly, Huawei, ZTE and other Chinese vendors could try to step in and convince Washington that their products are safe from security risks. But if washington ultimately decides it doesn’t feel comfortable including those products in important government IT systems, it should have every right to ban departments from buying such products.
